Astigmatism is a condition that happens when the surface/front of the eye is shaped like a football, causing blurry or distorted vision. Many astigmatic people are born with the condition or develop it early in life. Astigmatism may also develop after an eye injury or surgery.

Astigmatism is a common refractive condition where the cornea is shaped more like a football than a sphere, causing blurry or distorted vision. Daily toric contact lenses are designed with a specific axis and cylinder power to correct the distortion. Toric lenses also need to stay aligned on the eye to deliver consistent vision throughout the day, which is why rotational stability is a key factor in lens performance.

Spherical contact lenses correct nearsightedness or farsightedness with a single power across the lens. Toric lenses add a cylinder power and a specific axis to correct the distorted vision caused by astigmatism. Because the axis matters, toric lenses also need stabilization features to keep the lens aligned on the eye through everyday activities.

Yes. Halos and glare can be more noticeable for people with astigmatism, especially at night or in low-light conditions. Daily toric contact lenses with high-definition optics are designed to help reduce halos and glare by focusing light rays from the center and edges of the lens onto the retina, helping to reduce spherical aberration that can contribute to these visual disturbances.
